Leaders of the nation's auto industry made their final plea on Capitol Hill Friday for a $34 billion bailout they said Detroit - and the U.S. economy - can't live without.

Honestly it needs to be done. If these companies go under it won't be just the people who work for the automakers that will lose their jobs, it will be all of the people who work for the suppliers, dealers and etc. Estimates are at 2-3 million jobs. Not only will this country spiral into chaos but there will be a loss of competition and the cost of vehicles will skyrocket.
Also, they aren't asking for free money. They are asking for a loan from the people of America. The American people need to support this country and do what needs to be done to keep our economy going.
